An interview with Prof. Dr. Peter Löw about the European Heritage Project

The representative office building is one of the most important buildings in Baden-Baden’s pedestrian zone. The European Heritage Project is already represented in Baden-Baden with a number of architectural monuments that are being lovingly restored. The aim of all of this work is to support the application of the city of Baden-Baden for recognition as a World Heritage City.

At the moment, master nativity builder Rudolf Aitenbichler is working on a big, special project: he is restoring the “Hocker Krippe – a family nativity scene from Lauffen an der Traun – which dates back to the 18th century. This came about as part of the European Heritage Project through the initiative of Peter Löw, who acquired the Kaiserin- Elisabeth-Hospital in Lauffen, which is now being restored.
When the European Heritage Project acquired the 17th-century palazzo on the Grand Canal, it was already clear that the building would need extensive restoration and renovation work to restore it to its former glory.
The Christmas market (Kipferlmarkt) was not allowed to take place – shopping with needy single parents was.

- The European Heritage Project is having one of the largest historical family nativity scenes in the Salzkammergut comprehensively restored for the planned museum, and other important nativity scenes will follow.
